A Mini Portidoodle is a cross between a Portuguese Water Dog and a Mini Poodle. Both parent breeds are intelligent, low-shedding, and historically bred for working closely with people. The cross inherits the best of both: smart, eager, family-friendly, and gentle on allergies.
We started raising Mini Portidoodles to give families a hypoallergenic-leaning alternative to our French Bulldogs. The breed fills a gap: smaller than a Goldendoodle, smarter than most companion crosses, and adaptable to apartment or house life.
Most of our Mini Portidoodles are F1 generation, the first cross between the two parent breeds. F1s tend to be the healthiest and most consistent in temperament. We choose parent lines for temperament, intelligence, and low-shed coat traits.

Bright and trainable
Both parent breeds rank in the top 10 most-trainable breeds. Mini Portidoodles pick up commands fast and love to work for praise.
Velcro-dog energy
They bond hard. Expect a shadow that follows you from room to room.
Low-shed, allergy-friendly
The wavy/curly coat sheds minimally. Not 100% hypoallergenic (no breed is), but excellent for most allergy households.
Adaptable
They thrive in apartments, suburban homes, and active families alike. They want company more than a yard.
What we screen for in the parents.
Mini Portidoodles benefit from hybrid vigor, health diversity that pure-bred dogs often lack. But that doesn't mean we skip testing. We screen parent dogs for hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, eye conditions, and the common Poodle and PWD genetic markers via DNA panel.
Mini Portidoodles don't have the brachycephalic challenges of French Bulldogs, so they handle heat better and need a bit more exercise. Plan on 30–45 minutes of activity a day plus mental stimulation.
Coat upkeep: brush 2–3 times a week. Professional grooming every 6–8 weeks. The wavy coat keeps better with regular maintenance.
